What the checker reads
Most shops publish product data for search engines in one of three formats. The checker looks for them in this order and stops at the first price it finds:
- JSON-LD: a
Productwith anOffer(or anAggregateOffer, where the lowest price is shown), read fromprice,priceCurrencyandavailability. - Open Graph product tags:
product:price:amountandproduct:price:currency. - Microdata: elements marked with
itemprop="price"anditemprop="priceCurrency".
Why it matters
If the structured data is missing or out of date, search engines cannot show the price in results, and anything that relies on that data, including price comparison and monitoring tools, sees nothing or the wrong value. A price without a currency, or without an availability value, is often ignored.
What it does not do
The checker fetches the page once as a plain HTTP request. It does not run JavaScript, log in or get past bot checks, so prices that only appear after scripts run are not visible here. It does not store the page or the URL.
